a new petition. cbs reporter elizabeth wenger is live at city hall to explain how this may be planting the seed for a future recall against sheriff ross mirkarimi. >> reporter: good afternoon. that's right. there's actually a meeting being held now in the mayor's office at city hall. it's about the citywide effort to stop domestic violence called peace at home. it's about putting up billboards, bus ads, talking about putting a stop to this. folks like the mayor and the district attorney, who are actually heading this meeting, have been talking a lot recently about curbing ross mirkarimi's power on different domestic violence issues and some people have actually gone even further than that. check out this website. this is rossresign.org an online petition calling on the san francisco sheriff to step down and avoid a costly recall effort. they want 50,000 signatures. right before this meeting started, we talked to the president of the board of supervisors and the district attorney. they say this is about turning around a bad trend, not the embattled sheriff. we specifically asked george

should not post online, a lot of stuff. this is one of them. cbs 5 reporter elizabeth wenger is in san francisco with the story of a video that has a police sergeant in hot water. >> reporter: it should be interesting to see what happens next. yeah, the biggest question is why? it's pretty astonishing video. it was taken in broad daylight so you think that's the time when typically a lot of cars, a lot of traffic here at the broadway tunnel. and so the driver started here ee here at larkin and gunned it through the tunnel to chinatown. here's the video. [ engine revs ] >> reporter: it was posted on sergeant carl t's facebook page and was first obtained by sfist. it was seen in the broadway tunnel in a matter of seconds. there is no way to identify who was driving but in the comments section of the facebook page, he even bragged, we were all drunk. folks we showed the video to were shocked but others say since there were no other drivers around, no harm no foul. >> is he going to lose his dog in that's very reckless. >> took advantage because he was a cop. >> probably want to do it diff

-speed joyride through a tunnel in town. elizabeth wenger reports. >> reporter: the video is astonishing. he is changing his story but the first question is why. why would a san francisco cop post this on facebook to begin with? the video shows a driver at larkin and zooming top speeds. check this out. that clip was posted on sergeant carl t's facebook page in september. it appears to show him driving 100 miles per hour in the lamborghini through the broadway tunnel in seconds. there is no way to actually identify who is driving. in the comments section of his facebook page he bragged, we were all drunk. some people were surprised who saw the videos. others say since there were no other cars around, no harm, no foul. >> definitely safe. >> is he going to lose his job? that's reckless. >> he only took advantage of it because he is a cop. >> he probably would want to do it differently or not at all. >> reporter: the officer is changing his story. he told a weekly newspaper he wasn't driving and they were never going 100 miles per hour. he south dade the comment about being drunk was a joke. h

police sergeant is under investigation over over a video on facebook. in elizabeth wenger is in san francisco with the video that was recorded. >>> this video all over the net. it makes you think why would a san francisco cop ever do this to begin with? we should know he is changing his story now but that video essentially shows the driver starting here at larkin and broadway going through, gunning it through the broadway tunnel, all the way towards chinatown. let's check out that video now.
